Another year is slipping by so fast! And what a year it’s been. Some really good, some really bad. I have been stretching my wings a bit, I signed up for more shows than ever in 2015, which might be laughable to some artists who make their entire living doing shows. With my film work, and wholesale lines out there, it has been enough to do 6 shows a year. This year I applied to and was juried into 9 shows. I had to cancel one, in San Antonio, & here’s the really bad thing that happened…my amazing nephew, Michael Greenwood who lived in Kansas City died unexpectedly and very tragically. We were blessed to have known him for the short time we had him among us, and I am still struggling to imagine a world without Michael in it. He was a young, vibrant artist, a painter, with work in a Kansas City gallery, really just realizing his dreams. Michael loved everyone and was full of live. He left behind his 11 year old son, Finn, who was also his best friend. He will be missed beyond words. I spent a week with my brother and his wife who are incredibly shattered, but they are doing well, and we are all now treasuring our brilliant memories of a wonderful young man.
The farthest I traveled this year for my shows was Denver to do the Cherry Creek show. What a blast! We fell in love with the people there, ate some great food and even spent a day sight seeing. Kansas City Plaza was amazing! The crowds were the biggest I’ve seen in the, ummm… I guess 10 years I’ve been doing shows. I have a show this weekend in Houston at Discovery Green Park. Let’s hope Hurricane Patricia does not hammer Texas too badly, and the sun will come back by then. Chicago’s One of a Kind is coming back around for me, the first weekend in December (Thu-Sun), so there’s another nice long trip, 17 hours, to look forward to. I also bought a Ford transit this year, one of the “tall” vans which has made doing shows so much easier.
We are loving living in Sugar Land and have made many great friends in the two years we’ve been here. I hope to write again soon. Please don’t give up on me! Oh, & fall is coming, so that’s awesome!Email this »
